Million Dollar Password

I've been wanting to update forever but for some reason I can't log in to Blogger on the laptop with my password so I'm on my itty bitty phone just to let ya know I'm not purposely neglecting my updates :) I have soo much to talk about...esp our trip to Nashville but it's so hard to type on this little touch screen so I'll have to wait til I can figure out what's going on with the real computer. Just wanted to let ya know I'm
still here :)

Falling behind...

but I have a good excuse. Well, it's not good...it's lame...I always forget my password to Blogger...:)

I forget where I left off but I'll just back up a week'ish or so.

Amy and Harold have been in Hawaii on a little R&R and my girl Mackenzie had her first dance without Momma to help her get ready so Erin C. and I stepped in and got her all dolled up. We had a blast and she looked beautiful :)

Last Sat at work we had a Sidewalk Sale...the whole Olde Towne/Jackson Street District (not really sure what our official name is) put it on. We had a radio station come out and everything...woohoo, lol. It was actually really fun. We all had tables out in the courtyard with our "sale" items. Since Amy and Harold were in Hawaii until the day before and didn't know anything about it, we had to come up with what we wanted to present, so we got some acrylic cubes and wrote "Happy Valentines Day" in red and pink Lipstick on them and put out a bunch of bath and body sets and some of our half off HOBO Int. Handbags. By the way, if anyone who reads this needs some SUPER cute HOBO clutches, we still have a good stock and they're all half off (which means they're at cost). We also just got our Spring bags in...soooooo stinkin cute!!!) We also have Amy Head Long Sleeved Shirts that just came in the will be for sale soon that are soooo comfy. If youve ever worn "Nation" shirts, they're similar to that feel...like your hubby's shirts from highschool...washed 5,000 times...soooo soft :)

This past Thursday we, (along with everyone else in the group again) teamed up with Libby Story (super cute boutique next to us) to put on a Spring Fashion Show. We did makeup on all the models and they looked A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! The set up was awesome in the store, and Amy encouraged me to do the "speech" about the Studio to give me practice for when I'm in Nashville. It was fun :) The show was great and the clothes were sooo cute. Across the street, is a restaurant, Ely's that held the "afterparty" so we all went over there which was fun to hang out with all of our "neighbors".

Valentines Day was special as usual. We NEVER go out to a fancy dinner to exchange fancy gifts...or would I ever want to. We always stay at home and have a quiet dinner together. This year nothing had been talked about but Jay said he had it under control. I worked all day and he actually came to the Studio to meet with Harold about Nashville so I got to see him a good bit but when I got home that evening I came into this....

He had layed out on the counter little memories and momentos from throughout the years of our relationship. The calendar from our very first year (where HE had kept track privately of our first date, our first kiss, etc), our wedding invitation, letters we had written eachother....He then told me he had a candlelit bubblebath ready for me while he prepared dinner. :)
So I took by bubblebath and put on a nice little black dress I'd been saving! (I always dress up for him on V-Day, even though no one else sees us!
For dinner he made me a spinach salad with walnuts and cranberries :) (I know its not a steak dinner but this is a treat for me!)
and DESSERT was my FAVORITE...."chocolate" soy icecream and strawberries.
Oh, and I got him a few surprises too but I won't be sharing those on here...lol. Oh, except one...I got him the Matthew West CD he's been wanting...haha. I love that boy!!

So I know this post was mostly about work but that's because Jay was out of town all month but HE'S HOME!!!!!!!! And we are leaving Saturday after work to go to Nashville to meet with some people for business :) We are so excited to be moving forward AND to actually be spending time together!!! I'll try to post more this week and keep you up to date.

I'm in a spirit of prayer this week. Tragedy has hit several people in our life so we are counting our blessings and humbled at the same time that life is precious and life is uncertain. I know we hear almost daily of new pregnancies and deliveries as well as losses of babies and loved ones, cancers, sicknesses, diseases. Although these things happen frequently, please don't become desensitized to the people who are going through these things. A precious lifelong friend reminded me of a verse in Romans about persevering through these times and if only the rest of the world could see it through her eyes, we would all learn something so valuable. So if you hear of someone this week who is going through a difficult time, don't dismiss it b/c it is so common, give them the attention they deserve, b/c in their world, it is ALL that matters right now. :(

25 Random Things...

1. I have 3 kidneys but I technically don't have an "extra" one...two of them are just really small. So, don't hit me up for one. :)

2. I don't have a baby book b/c I'm the youngest, and it makes me more sad than anyone realizes. I secretly wish that my mom would put one together for me now...I wouldn't mind that it's 25 years late...

3. I always wanted to sing in the Christmas programs when I was little but I was too shy to try out. The closest I got was singing in a trio. I have no desire to sing now though and would never consider myself musical, so I'm not sure where that came from?

4. I have an ObSEsSiOn with vegan "icecream". I'd eat it everyday if I could. I do eat it every week. My fav. brand is Purely Decadent...it's sinful.

5. I am terrified of pickles. I'm not sure when or why it started but the thought of one touching my skin makes me SICK...and I'd rather smell sweaty armpits than the aroma of pickle juice any day...it seriously disgusts me. Ugh.

6. Every year I make a "resolution" to make a certain part of myself better (but not in the traditional, lose weight garbage) ...for instance, this year I am putting a lot more effort into my hair. It's actually making a difference in the way, knowing that I took the extra time and effort in getting ready. I've been using Aveda and Bumble and Bumble products and they smell soooo good. Jay also got me a chi curling iron for Christmas that I use when I leave my hair natural, to help the curl look a little more polished. I've also been keeping up with my hair trims and colors!!

7. We're big into being debt free. We didn't start out that way b/c we had soooo many medical bills and credit card bills but we did Financial Peace (the Dave Ramsey class) and paid off an insane amount of debt and it is the best feeling in the world to not owe anyone money. We also plan on opening the studio debt free.

8. If Jay had picked me up for our first date in a Hawaiin shirt, I wouldn't have gone. I'm glad he didn't :)

9. I think the most ANNOYING show on TV is "Teen Kids News". It comes on after the Early Show while I'm getting ready for work on Sat. and it makes me almost have seizures if I can't turn it off right away. You'll just have to watch for yourself.

10. I'm addicted to fashion blogs. My favorites are seaofshoes.com and thebudgetbabe.com

11. Fake southern accents on TV annoy me. I don't have much of one (Jay wishes I did..he thinks they're so cute) but I can spot a fake one a mile away and there are too many bad ones in Hollywood.

12. I've been to Colombia, South America twice and Mexico 3 times for Mission trips and I want to go on so many more. I would love to go work in an orphanage but I really don't know that I could come home without being completely broken hearted...as in seriously in a dark place because I couldn't take all the children home. :(

13. I was in a Food magazine once....yep. And a Figure Skating magazine with Tara Lipinski.

14. I love perfume but only a handful of them. It's because I associate them with particular moments that bring back sooooo many good memories (and some I can never smell again b/c of bad memories). Light Blue always puts a CHEESY (credits to you Melody Dowdy) smile on my face b/c it puts me right in mid-town NYC with Jay, Armani Code makes me laugh b/c of the experience I had in NY buying it so I don't wear it much anymore, Michael Kors makes me feel like a real grown up lady, and the perfume Jay bought me today will always remind me of what a lovely afternoon we spent together... it's true...

15. Jay and I love to ride around, look at big huge houses and put together all of the things we liked about each one for our own dream house that we will "one day" have...even though I would be just as content sleeping in the back of our Studio forever b/c we'd be living out our calling and dream :)

16. I'd like my "resolution" next year to be to learn how to spell certain words without having to Google them. These are easy words too...such as...Definetely...and yes, I just Googled that....sad...

17. Because I grocery shop and cook our meals, it's hard for me to spend the money to eat out often....I wish I could just go out and enjoy it but all I'm thinking is...this asparagus is $7...I would have 2 weeks worth for $7 at the market...it's annoying, but I can't help it.

18. I clip coupons every week, but I wish they had them for foods I eat, like vegetables. By the way, I just Googled vegetables...I had an extra d in it :(

19. I want to invent a better word for the relationship between your siblings child and yourself b/c being an "aunt" is soooo much more special than that word can describe. The definition would be n. 1) someone who's heart you took a huge part of the minute you were born and who would do anything in the world for you just to know that you are truly happy. 2) someone who makes you your favorite treats and has the best slumber parties and takes you on the best dates. 3) someone who loves you more than you can imagine and would give their life for you. (I've got 3...soon to be 5 nephews that I love sooo much)

20. I hate having my nails done. It's so boring to me. Pedicures are nice though.

21. Jay gives the BEST massages. If he ever lost his legs on one of his camping excursions, he's got his new career lined up for him...

22. The night we went to get Daisey (our 4 year old Maltese) was one of the happiest ever! She was like a little cotton ball with black eyes. I was so lonely in Florida without my family or any close friends my age that when I got her, she was my little friend and she went EVERYWHERE with me :) We love that little pup so much and hope to give her a little playmate someday....wow, sounds like I'm talking about a child...

23. I love to camp and do anything outdoors but I get soooo PAINFULLY cold that it puts a serious limit to when I can do it before it gets too hot for everyone else :( Its frustrating b/c I WANT to do it but it's just so miserable to be THAT cold.

24. My most favorite makeup sessions are with the old ladies. Everyone else gets nervous but I LOVE IT...I even like the mean ones because they always turn around by the end...and the rare occasion they're still grumpy, I still smile when they leave b/c I know that they were happy inside.

25. It makes me sooooooo happy and excited and anticipatory (didn't google) and giddy when I think about the honor of spending the rest of my life with Jay. I don't know how or why I was blessed with him but I'm sure not going to ever do anything to mess it up. He is a true rare gift and I will continue for the rest of our lives to try to be a God honoring wife for him. :)

MoNdAy

Wasnt looking at cupcakes for a whole week fun? I'm just now coming off of my sugar high :)

This has been a good week because I've had Jay for half of it! He got to come home on Wednesday night to finish up some projects that his company has got going on here and he gets to stay in town for a while! Yay!!!! :) Today he and my dad and I even had a lunch date :) Yesterday the three of us went to the International Car Show and I found my new car....

It's the '09 Mercedes SLK 300...isn't it beautiful? Jay and I both fell in love...it's just a matter of time and eyelash fluttering..LoL. Kidding....

So, I have a supermodel on my hands now. The owner of the menswear store upstairs from Amy Head, Kinkaids has asked Jay to be his exclusive model. How fun is that? He'll be doing print work and fashion shows. Jay's a little nervous but I think he's gonna have a blast and will be sooo good. I mean look at him....;)

Today I'm just getting caught up on housework...I'm doing laundry now and it smells sooooo good!!! I asked my seester what kind of detergent she uses because if you get within 5 feet of her or her offspring, you can smell their clothes and they smell sooooo good, so I FINALLY ran out and needed more and I had to get her kind. I have my 2nd load going now and my whole house smells good. FYI, it's Tide with a touch of Downy (the April kind)....she uses liquid but I got powder b/c they didn't have the liquid. MMmmmmm, thanks seester!!

I'm hoping for a good week at work...Harold is out for a couple weeks, he's in Hawaii!! Amy is joining him the end of the week for some R&R so we'll get some things tied up before she goes I'm sure. Nothing too major though.

Oooooh, I may be getting private Pilates classes!!!! My most FAVORITE instructor from the pilates studio came into our studio and said she would work a trade with me....if i would give her makeup lessons, she would give me privates....ummmm, thatd work...privates are $75!!!!! Please Please Please make me get on the phone and not forget and get too busy and bla bla bla....it's too good to pass up!!!

So, this morning I was just going to clean out my Folded Shirts drawer because realistically I only wear about 5 of the shirts in there, so I did that and had about 30 shirts in the pile and it felt soooo good...so I moved into jeans....about 15 pair to get rid off...ahhhh, can't stop now....khakis, will i EVER wear khakis? Nope, toss em....move on to dresses....see ya....well, okay, might as well do the shirts too.....30 minutes later, this is what I end up with....

and believe it or not, Jay hates when I do this. But if I know I'll never wear it again or I haven't worn it in two years, or if it won't stay up without wearing a 7 year olds belt, I just can't see the point in keeping it....!! It feels sooo good to cleanse though!

I know this post is scattered but when I only post once a week, it's hard to keep everything in order. I'm excited about the Bachelor tonight. Erin D is spending the night tonight and we'll be watching it together...with Jay :)

My sister got bloodwork done today and she goes to the Neurologist next month....PLEASE keep praying...do NOT give up!!!

Have a wonderful week....xoxo

Cupcake Sunday

Today was the most surprisingly glorious Sunday (did I make that up) because it has been sooooo miserable cold and for once I wasn't literally in pain because I was so cold to the bone. The weather was sooooo beautiful and sunny and mild and I got to spend the whole day with my best friend...how in the world can you top that?? Well, I guess you could fly my sister and nephews here but that would just send me over the edge :) Lemme recap on the weekend though. Sat at work was CrrrrrAAAzzzYYYYY. We did about 20 sessions. This is like running an emotional marathon. A typical session is where you spend an hour one on one with a woman and you do a complete makeover on her but not only that, you are teaching her exactly how to do it herself so that when she gets home with her makeup, she is able to look just as good as she did when you (the professional) did it. So you're not only verbally teaching and encouraging, you're also writing down the colors and tools and drawing pictures and notes for her. Well, there were 3 of us doing sessions which means....yeah, Erin C and I each did about 8 sessions in 20 minutes. It was amazing...the day flew by and I hardly remember anything about it...just that I was exhausted when it was over. We got out about an hour late but thats been pretty typical for me lately. Oh well, gotta do what ya gotta do.

This morning we went to church and as soon as we walked in my instincts went on high alert and I KNEW something was going on. I saw Chips wife and kids (they're never in our service) and Tim Smith, the assoc. pastor who's also never in our service. So I told Jay, "theyre going to announce something after church, I just feel it, Chip BETTER NOT be leaving". So of course all during church, my stomach was sick just thinking about it. Well, after the message and everything, Tim comes out with a man and introduces him as the head of the pastor search commmittee and I almost threw up and then he goes on to say that 10 years ago today Chip and Christy came to Pinelake and we've put together a video of his first 10 years with us, blablabla. Well, I'm still thinking, okay what are you getting at??? If he's leaving just say so and if he's not, then SAY SO, because I can't stand this!!! During the video though, it had all the deacons and elders saying stuff like "looking forward to 10 more years" and stuff like that so I calmed down but good grief it really did make me nervous. But how cool is that, that I knew something was up before church even started? I should be a detective!! hehe.

This afternoon we got our house back in tiptop squeaky clean shape and I went into the studio to direct Amy on a photoshoot for some spring ads and then we worked on editing the shots from my photoshoot. They turned out good, the background was so cool. I ended up leaving before they picked the final shot though b/c I want to be surprised with what's in the ads so I guess we'll all see it for the first time together :)

A while back I picked up a cookbook thats just been hanging out in the cabinet that I finally put to use called "Vegan Cupcakes Take Over The World". I wanted to send Jay back out of town with plenty of treats from home. So he picked out two flavors and I got all the ingredients we would need. I wanted to not only make then vegan but also organic. The two he decided on were Cookies and Cream and Carrot Cake. The Cookies and Cream has a Chocolate Base with Oreo type cookies crumbs mixed into the batter and a Buttercream Frosting with more cookie crumbs mixed in. The Carrot Cake has a "cream cheese" frosting. Oh my goodness people, I have never ever ever tasted anything more amazing and I promise I remember what "real" dessert tastes like! Jay still eats regular stuff and he is amazed at how delicious these are!!! If anyone wants the recipes let me know! If we're going to treat ourselves, we owe it to our bodies to feed it natural ingredients like this! Here's a pic of the finished product...

Well, I'm gonna take advantage of my last bit of time with Jay before he's off again. My sis has an MRI tomorrow. She's had a tough weekend. Please pray....xoxo

Quick Update

It's been a busy week. I knew once I got back into the groove of working, my internet use would slow down :) I think my seesters Dr. appointment is today so hopefully they will have some genious ideas about what to do to help her!!!

Jays been out of town all week but it's been okay. The first week is usually okay b/c I'm adjusting...and it's kinda fun in a way, being all alone, painting my nails, going to bed as early as I want, and I'm forced to remember to take my medicine on my own and take out the trash, etc. But I know by next week, I'll be MISERABLE for him!!!!!! Last night I was sooooo excited when he came home!!!!!!!! He surprised me last night and dropped in on a photo shoot I was doing for work. It was so much fun but it was my first time on a big photo shoot to be on that side of the camera...I'm usually the one doing the makeup and creative work. We shot it on location in a cool restaurant right at 5 o'clock so we could get the light of the sun setting so we had all the men there for happy hour so we had quite an audience....AWKWARD!!! But once all the lighting and equipment was set up, it went pretty quickly. I had to wear a dress so i was FREEEEZZZZZIIINNNGGG!!!!! Then Jay and I went on a fun date and came home to celebrate Daiseys 4th birthday!!!! I can't believe our pup is growing up so fast!! It seems like we just got her when we were newlyweds in Florida!! :)

I get Jay all weekend but we both will be working most of the time and he goes back Monday but we'll be sure to squeeze in some fun time!! I'm off to work now...hope it's a good day for all of us!! I've got a lot of people on my mind to pray for, hopefully you do to!! xoxo

My sis

Sorry it's been a while....although I was tempted to never add another post b/c I love seeing my babes face front and center when I pull up the blog :) A lot has been keeping me busy though so I'll try my best to back it up and fill in....

The biggest thing thats been on my mind is the person who (besides Jay) is my heart....my sister. For quite a while now, she has been having bad headaches. It's so frustrating to even say that b/c it seems like everyone knows someone that has headaches but my sister is so strong and has almost died so for her to complain about her headaches, it's already gone too far. So she finally went to her doctor and before he ran any serious tests, he prescribed SERIOUS drugs (she probably doesn't want me telling the blogworld whats in her medicine cabinet) but those didn't even touch the pain. Y'all...OMG. Okay, obviously you know my situation by now and that I can empathize with headpain...this girl has GOT to get some medical attention fast, this isn't normal and something is going on inside of her head. While all of this is happening, she is still a wife and mommy!! On tuesday though the pain got so intense that her hubby came home from work to take care of the boys because there was no way she could function. It ended up easing up that night but then on Wednesday it got bad again so she put a call in to her doctor and when he finally got the message he told her to go to the ER right away for a CT scan and some heavy duty medicine. It was so late by that time so her sweet neighbor brought her so Steven could be with the boys. I made her give me minute by minute reports and picture updates b/c I was worried sick...gotta love iphones :) The medicine they gave her through the IV did give her some relief and they finally got her into the CT. Now her Dr. is waiting for the report from the hospital and they can move forward from there. She's still taking her other medicine to fight off the unbearable headaches and we're just praying that her Dr. will have a clear answer when she goes back in. It's just sooooo hard when someone you love soo much is in so much pain and you can't do anything about it or be with them and it's heartbreaking. And when it's someone you're THAT close to, you actually FEEL their pain :(

Aside from that, work has been busy busy as usual. We hired a new girl and I think she's going to be fabulous. Jay starts working out of town on Monday but I'm trying not to think about it just yet...we're not even sure what the schedule is going to be like so it may not even be that bad.

Today after work, I went home with my friend Erin to get ready for our other friend Ashleys baby shower. A group of her friends all met at a local restaurant, Bon Ami for dinner...it was super fun and I got to meet 3 sweet new girls. Anyhoo, I got to try out the Wii Fit which I'm dying to get and I think it lives up to the hype I've been giving it. It's still out of stock everywhere though so I'm still patiently waiting :)

Well, I think that wraps it up...I'll update about my sis as soon as I know something...

I'm about to ramble so bear with me or move on to the next blog you read...:)

So, after Jay and I realized that Nashville was a real calling for us and it was really going to happen, I promised Amy and Harold that I wouldn't go forward with it until after our move to the new location...so, now that we've gotten all situated into the new Ridgeland Studio (I'm talking about work obviously), I have gotten a huge rush of God saying "NOW, it's your time...." and now soooo many things are starting to play out in our favor and Jay and I are soooooo excited to see how God is going to lead us in this next year to open our studio!!! We are planning our Feb. trip to Nashville and will hopefully have some meetings lined up and make efficient use of our few days there to speak with some developers as well us brokers in the Green Hills area...that seems to be our new focus area. We are so fortunate to already have a pretty big customer base in the Nashville area and from all the feedback they have given me, they all say that when they want to shop, thats the area they go to, so thats where we want to look on this trip. I'm sure the overhead is going to be ridiculous so we're hoping to find a spot just off the beaten path kind of like the old Amy Head was in, if you were ever there. We'll see. We're trusting that if we're wise in our decisions, God will lead us to where we need to be. In church this morning, Chip was talking about Ezra and how God gave him a "project" at the beginning of the year and Ezra was so faithful and pleased God....Ezra trusted God and honored God but what captured me was that Ezra did these things without any question or hesitation because God was WORTHY of them. I'm afraid that in this journey, I am going to have doubts and questions and probably even turn down an opportunity or two but why should I??? God has entrusted me with this "project"....this is the ministry that I was called to do and like Ezra, I want to be unwavering when I give my trust and honor to God!!! :)

Oh yeah, so we didn't go to shop today like we planned. We keep a seperate bank account for when we go on little trips or when we're saving for a particular purchase, so I took the money that I woulda spent today and just transfered it to that account for our Nashville trip! I didn't reeeeaaaallllyyyy need anything anyway. Instead I did some pretend online shopping. It satisfied me for the moment. ;)

I have the day off tomorrow but I've got several errands to run. Maybe I'll check back in here...

Favorites...

My sis and I just did this with eachother so I thought I'd do one on here too. :)

My Favorite:

1. Clothes shop-

I have a few for different things....

I LOVE Forever 21 for Seasonal clothes that I can fill up my closet with b/c it's so affordable and if you study designer clothing, you can REALLY pull off expensive looks!

UAL is a place I like to go a couple times a year to get some good classic pieces. Thats where I got those beautiful cream colored Valentino pants. They were originally $1600.00 and I got them for $70 and I will have them forever! They also carry a few lines that I love as basic pieces like "Nation" and "Velvet" that makes the most comfortable Tees for layering. And if you can catch them on a good week, they have even been known to have some Jimmy Choos! Jay and I are actually making a trip on Sunday so I'm crossing my fingers!

For jeans, theres a boutique in Nashville called Emmaline that carries all the brands that fit me well and the owner, Abby is so sweet. I got a cute pair of trouser Citizens last time we were there. Jay got me a cute pair of Sevens for Christmas at a new place in Ridgeland called Azule and he said they had a HUGE selection so I'll have to check them out also!!

For Jay, we LOVE LOVE LOVE to shop at Red Square in Ridgeland. They have the BEST shoes and great jeans.

2. Furniture shop-

I pretty much count on Jay to build anything we need...he's amazing...

For accessories, we love antiques mixed with sleek and modern....we've enjoyed browsing through the new I.O. Metro store.

3. City-

that's easy. LOVE NYC but we've compromised on Nashville :) We're planning a trip the beginning of Feb. to stake out Green Hills

4. Sweet-

Vegan "icecream" my fav brand is Purely Decadant

5. Drink-

Unsweet Tea with splenda

6. Music-

depends on my mood...sometimes i like quiet...sometimes i like some good booty music....but i can't wait to get to heaven and hear what real worship music sounds like

7. TV-

i love all the crime shows but after a long day at work what I really like is some mindless TV, you know what I'm talking about

8. Workout-

The past several months, Amy has been generous enough to let me use her membership to The Pilates Studio of Jackson to do real pilates on the reformer machines with the instructors and it's been sooo amazing. It ended the end of the year though and I'm so bummed. It's way too expensive for me to do it on my own though so I'll have to come up with something else. It's COMPLETELY different that the classes they offer at the gym.

9. Pastry-

Not really my thing...

10. Coffee-

I don't drink coffee but I love the smell of it. Poor Jay HATES the smell of it though so anytime we make it for our guests, he's miserable :(

That was fun. Gets me back in the swing of things. :)

P.S. I need help....How do you post pictures in between paragraphs? Like if I want to tell a story about something then put a picture...then tell about something else and put another picture, etc....I can't figure it out...!!!?? Anyone know how??

Can I get another chance??

Ohmigoodness, I know I don't deserve to even tiptoe back into the blogging world but this is going to be such a big year that I know I'm gonna be dying to share it with someone!! So I'm just going to take baby steps back if thats okay!?? I thought my sister was the only one who read this but for the other three of you, I'm gonna TRY to stay on top of this a LITTLE better...no promises though. :) Let me recap on some highlights over the past few months though b/c a lot has kept me busy...

I left off with my sister coming with the boys. We had so much fun and I did ride back with them. We stopped in Pensacola overnight to see our brother and then drove the rest of the way the next day. I spent a few days there and we had a blast! Jonathan changed to a new school that he really likes and we got to play at a really fun park and of course we found time to shop! It's always sooooo hard to leave but we knew we'd see eachother for Thanksgiving.

Jay and I got to host Thanksgiving again this year and it was so much fun. This was my first year as a vegan so I knew it would be a challenge to prepare things that would be safe for me to eat but that nobody would be able to tell were vegan. Mission accomplished! :) My mom brought the turkey and stuffing and I made Candied Lime Sweet Potatoes, Fresh Green Bean Bundles with a Mushroom Sauce and then my brother in law fried some onion strips (that got eaten before dinner...hehe), Apple Corn Bread, then for dessert we had these cute little Pumpkin Whoopie Pies and Turtle Cheesecake that was NOT vegan. It was all soooo yummy and we had so much fun together!!

December 2, I turned 25...Ugh. I was dreading that day. I can't talk about how old I am b/c Jay being 10 years older feels REALLY old but I do feel different this year. I feel like I really need to kick things into gear. Enough about that subject. In early December after COUNTLESS hours and looooooooong night, we FINALLY moved the Ridgeland Amy Head Studio to our new location in the Old Towne District on Jackson Street. It is fabulous and worth all the effort but it was HARD work and we are far from being complete. If you are in the area though, you MUST come by. It is GORGEOUS!!! And I have to brag b/c my husband is the master craftsman behind all of the work in the studio. He and Harold designed everything and Jay built it all. I am so impressed with his talents and he has gone above and beyond what I even knew he was capable of. I can't wait to see what we do in our own studio!

Christmas was fabulous. Jay and I spent the morning together and exchanged way too many gifts and took our time enjoying eachother. I prepared some food to take to my parents house that afternoon so we took our time getting ready and then headed over there. My brother and his fiance and little ones got there that afternoon and we all ate and then opened more presents. We all just enjoyed being together the rest of the evening. They were able to stay through the weekend and left after church on Sunday.

Nothing special to speak of for New Years. Just shared a Midnight Kiss ;)

I've had the week off and don't have to go in until Sat. but I'm going in tomorrow to play catch up before the rush comes in. That, and I am going stir crazy :) I'm such a work-aholic...but at least I can admit it.

I think that about takes care of the highlights! I'm hoping to be back soon :)

Anniversaries!

Happy Anniversary to us!! We celebrated 4 years on the 25th! We had a lovely evening at home...after work, we made dinner together and really celebrated the fact that we had shared four years of marriage together. Then we did no other than watch the season premier of Grey's!! :) I also "celebrated" my 2 year post-op mark. Two years ago on the 20th, I was in a heck of a lot of pain in a strange hospital room in New York City, in and out of consciousness only getting to see Jay and my parents for about 5 minutes twice a day while I was in ICU. I was so scared and in so much pain but once I was moved to my room, every time I opened my eyes, I saw my precious husbands smiling face right over mine and felt my mommas warm hand on mine and my daddys big hands on my feet and saw my sweet mother in law at the end of my bed. At the time I wasnt sure what the outcome was going to be. We were all so hopeful that that was going to be it and after the scars had healed, the pain would be gone but I always knew that no matter what the outcome was, God had His hand in this. I still believe that His hand is in this and although my scar may be healed, my healing is FAR from over!! :)

But back to being married. In my last post, I mentioned that we were going to see a counselor to take the Myers Briggs tests, so I'll fill ya in on that. I can't even tell you how excited I am about the timing of it! Jay took his Personality test and we both took what is called the Enrich evaluation, which is for couples who have been married for a while, that lets you know your strengths and weaknesses. Our counselor will send them off, and in a couple of weeks when she gets them back, we will meet again and over 2, two hour sessions we will go over the results. It will basically see how we can better serve eachother in our marriage. We feel so blessed that we are able to do this NOW, long before there is a "need" for counseling because of a problem and we're also pretty proud of ourselves for taking the initiative to go ahead and do this! I'll keep ya filled in along the way.

Tomorrow evening Amy B. and I are going to a plastic surgeons office for a little PR. Dr. Cole is having an open house with all the reps from Botox, Juvaderm, Restalin, etc there to answer questions and actually do some "work" and we will be there representing Amy Head answering questions and showing makeup techniques. It should be fun!

MOST exciting though is that my SEESTER AND NEPHEWS ARE COMING!!!!!!!!! Sooooo spur of the moment, she decided to drive all the way from Ft Myers!! I am going to ride back with them in a couple of weeks and then fly back a few days later. I am soooo excited to see them!!! PLEASE be praying for their safety tomorrow and Wednesday as they are driving and also for her hands...she has sjograns disease which causes terrible pain in her hands (arthritis) when she drives for long periods of time!

I got Jays Bday present. I'm keeping it at my parents house because it's so big. He's going to be so surprised. It makes me laugh to think about it because it's such a grandpa gift. I'll have to post pics when I give it to him, he'll be so excited though. haha. What can I say, I aim to please :)

I think I'm caught up for now. Hope everyones had a great September!!
xoxo

I'm still alive, just been oh so busy. Work work work! I havent even picked up the laptop so I'm just doing this quick post on my itty bitty iPhone. Which by the way I am ADDICTED to!!!! Jay got it for me before our Nashville trip and I haven't put it down since! :)

Thursday is our 4th Anniversary and Im super excited! We don't have big plans but I still love little milestones. We're going to see a counselor tomorrow who specializes in the Myers Briggs personality types and we are so excited. Before the rumors start flying, let me explain ;) We had this counselor come do a workshop at the Studio a month or so ago and we all took the tests to find out our types so that we could work as the ultimate team and of course service our customers better and Amy treated us all to a personal session with her. I have become so intriged by it and by sharing everything I have learned with Jay, we think it would be so beneficial to learn to communicate with eachother the best we possibly can before problems ever arise. This lady also does the pre marriage counseling for FBC so she's great with our ages. So tomorrow Jay will take the myers Briggs test since ive done it and we'll go from there! SO exciting!!

Anyway, Jays Bday is on Oct 7...he'll be 35!! I'm so proud of my ole man ;) Not sure of the plans yet but we'll think of something.

Well gotta run but I'll get back soon. Still gotta post about Nashville...especially my shopping finds! ;)

xoxo

SOO much

So very much has happened since the last time I posted that I almost don't even want to post anymore but I'll try to catch up. The Fashion Show was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!!!!! It was soo well done, I was proud to be a part of it. Of course the makeup looked amazing but every part of the show was thought out to the last detail and it was top notch and so high end. The models were amazing, the DJ was the best, the hair was perfect and the whole atmosphere was right on. I can't belive it all came together like it did.

Jay and I made a somewhat last minute trip to Nashville this past weekend and got back Wednesday. I won't go into detail but I will say that we had overwhelming confirmations about the directions that God is leading us. We have a meeting tomorrow that will give us even more answers. This is a VERY exciting season in our lives and a lot of things will be happening in the near future...sooner that we may have expected. I'll keep you posted as I can.

I know this is short but I am soooo tired...still car lagged I think and I have a full day at work tomorrow. Hope everyones had a great week!

Storytellers Ball

Thursday was the night and we did have a good time. I was ready for it to come and go and I am glad that it's over but it was nice to get out and meet a lot of the people you hear about it the business section of the newspaper....not that I read it, I just hear about it. We had a good time getting ready together at the studio. Amy B and I both borrow dresses from Amy Head and they were so pretty and sparkly. I FINALLY found some gold heels...bcbg always pulls through for me. If only I wore size 8's, I couldv'e borrowed Amy's Manolo's...*sigh*. Oh well. :) They had a live auction and Harold and Amy got a cool painting so that was exciting...quite a bidding war went on for that. The food was pretty...of course nothing was vegan but I wasn't that hungry so it was fine. I saw my brain surgeon and I may or may not have had a slight crush on him so that was fun...lol...he was so nice and our mutual friend was there with him and made a big deal about the last time he had seen me, I had a big bandage around my head was that was quite embarassing. They had a band playing some fun 70's music. There were probably about 400-500 people there total. So next up is the fashion show on Thursday. Exciting! Jay's taking off work tomorrow since he's been working so much (he's even at work today) and we're going to find something for me to wear to it!

Update on the medicine...still too early to tell if it's going to help the pain but I may not be blogging as much. It's taken me about 40 minutes to write this little bit bc I have to keep backspacing almost every sentence. I keep writing words backwards and phrases get all jumbled up. It's a very common side effect so it's not scary but it's just frustrating and time comsuming.

Have a wonderful week!

Y and Z

Y is for...Y can't I find the shoes that I'm looking for? I love shoe shopping but I HATE shopping FOR shoes...I promise this is a logical statement. I enjoy just stumbling upon a great pair of shoes when I'm not particulary looking for any but when I have a certain outfit that i need a certain style of shoe for, I can NEVER find the right ones. I have been all over town today looking for a pair of shoes for the Storyteller's Ball on Thursday night but I can NOT find them. It's a black tie event and I am borrowing a dress from Amy thats kind of a fleshy peachy color with parts of it sheer and parts of it with peachy sequins. It's beautiful and drippy and I need simple, elegant shoes...I want a nude color so it's like I'm almost barefoot because I don't want to distract from the dress but everything is either so ornate or really really plain. Ugh. I have until Wednesday night to find them. I did find a cute pair of Steve Madden wedges though...hehe. :)

Z is for...Zephryhills. That's the kind of water my seester is stocking up on because of hurricane Fay. She lives in Ft. Myers and it is headed for them tomorrow afternoon. She's all stocked up with supplies so now it's just a waiting game. Jay and I lived in Florida during the season with all the storms and we evacuated each time but they're going to ride it out. PLEASE pray for them. I am praying of course for their safety but also for the small things. Jonathan is nervous about the power going out and can you imagine being 4 years old hearing all the wind and rain beating on the windows, sitting in the dark with your little flashlight, no cartoons and having to ride out the storm? My prayer is that they will be protected from ANYTHING related to the storm...strong win, power outages, tornadoes. I wish so badly that I could wrap those little boys up in my arms and protect them (and Kristi too!) but I am going to be in a constant spirit of prayer for them until I see that colorful "spot" named Fay on the weather map move over them. PLEASE do the same!!

Well, I made it through the Alphabet! If anyone has any ideas of what I can do next let me know! I need something like this to keep me blogging! :)

V,W,X

V is for...VIP Runway Event!! It's going to be soooooo fabulous!!!! So VIP is the local magazine that everyone wants to be it...it features pictures from all the big parties and fundraisers around Jackson and it has great advertising and every month they fly off the racks as soon as they go out....it's pretty pathetic if you ask me. Anyway, the editor, Leigh Reeves does a fantastic job, she's very classy and hip and she's putting together the first ever VIP Fashion Show charity event. Amy Head Studio is doing the makeup and "creative direction" for it which means we got the final say on almost everything b/c our name is on everything. This isn't your typical local rinky dink fashion show with highschool girls who's moms told them they were puurrrty...these are HOT men and women (they had a casting call for it) walkin down the runway in high fashion clothes with GORGEOUS Amy Head makeup. It's on the front lawn of this old Historic house in the Fondren district under the stars with this amazing DJ who was mentored by the best of the best. It's being catered by the hip little restaurant that has even opened yet called Mint. Tickets are $75 bucks so you know it'd better be good. It's on the 28th so I'll let ya know how it goes.

W is for...Wait. Thats what I had been feeling like God was telling me lately. Just wait. I am usually a very laid back, even tempered, go with the flow kind of girl but there was this little situation (i won't go into detail cuz i'm not sure who reads this) that just made me want to blow up. I couldn't understand why another person of authority involved wasn't seeing things the way I was seeing them, which was logical. I kept getting so angry inside and wanted to confront the issue but I would always here that little voice saying, just wait. So I waited for about a month and then finally yesterday I had had it. I had been pushed over the edge, my heart was racing and I was hot and I was about to lose it when I heard the voice again. So again I recomposed myself, even had a calm conversation with the person and then at the end of the day, it all made sense. The problem was resolved and I got to see how waiting was more than the right thing to do. Things worked out better than I could have imagined and because I waited, I am still respected by everyone involved. I am sooo thankful for that still small voice.

X is for...Xcited about date night tonight! I know I cheated but I couldn't think of an X and I didn't have anything to write about a Xylophone. I'm not sure what we're gonna do and it really doesn't matter, I'm just happy to be spending time with Jay. He's getting all clean and polished up now and we'll head out :) Probably buy some more shoes...and then return them...kidding :) Have a fab weekend!

S,T,U

First I gotta acknowledge (that's a hard word to type) my new layout!! My first one ever thanks for Mrs Langhans :) I have tried in the past to figure it out but I could never do it, so for now this one is going to do until I have a few more minutes to play with the site she sent me a link to. Thanks Lindsey!! :) Now for the Alphabet...

S is for...Summer Olympics. I just can't get into them. I love our country and I'm all about some Michael Phelps (sp?) too but I just can't sit in front of the TV for hours cheering our team on. I hope we do well but that's about as far as my spirits gonna take me. We did however watch a little bit of the womens gymnastic in bed lastnight and they weren't doing too well. I felt so bad for them. I felt even worse for the Chinese girls though only because I feel like if THEY do bad, they'll get beaten, or sold into slavery or something, ya know? Sad. But really though, Go USA!

T is for...Too young for makeup. Seriously moms, you gotta draw the line somewhere. We have been having sooo many little girls in for their back to school makeovers and when I say back to school, I can almost say back to Preschool. These girls are 10 and 11. I know that 12 is a pretty safe age to START wearing a little bit but I had a little 10 year old today who's MOM was telling me to put on foundation, eyeshadow with a dark crease, BLACK eyeliner, blush and lipstick...seriously...serisously? She spent over $700....on her TEN YEAR OLD!!! You gotta have boundaries ladies, boundaries!

U is for...Ugly secretarys. A lady I work with has a daughter who's husband just became an official lawyer and she has made a rule that he can only have ugly secretaries. The lady was actually in an attorneys office the other day and she said that all of the secretaries were all so unattractive. I know this sounds so awful but it was so funny to me. It makes sense though. I guess if Jay was in an office alone with a woman, I'd feel better if she wasn't the easiest thing to look at. So, if you work at an office and the wives love you, are you the ugly secretary??...JUST KIDDIN :)

P,Q,R

P is for...Playing in the rain. Jay and I are dorks. I said it. We are. But we LOVE to love life and while some people prefer to go to the theatre when it's rainy and yucky outside, we can't wait to get out there and smear mud all over eachother...haha. So I'm attaching a pic from a day a few months ago when we did just that. Todays been rainy and yucky and fabulous and if he weren't still at work I'd like to think that that's what we'd be doing now :)

Q is for...Quarters for Chiari. We started savings our quarters when I got my first dr. appointment in NY and we started calling them our "quarters for chiari" and it just stuck. We saved rolls and rolls of them and paid for many taxi rides, bus fares, train tickets, subway passes, etc with them. My mom also surprised us with HER large stash of quarters for chiari that we used on another trip to ny. Everytime we have our date set to go we get re-focused on saving up those quarters. Maybe I shouldn't give away this susper secret hiding spot but I keep them in the freezer...I think b/c if the house burns down, they won't melt?? Is this true...or maybe the chimney would be a better place since the chimney always seems to be left standing...hmmm...

R is for...Re-play. Jay and I Re-played Scrabble and I must say we had a BLAST. We established the rules from the beginning and that did the trick. We decided that if we could prove the spelling of a word it counts. Unfortunately you can prove some pretty crazy words...lol. But I personally think that makes it all the more fun. I was so happy last night though b/c I BEAT HIM....not just beat him...SMOKED HIM!!! Now I can't wait to play again! I feel like my sister is with Monopoly...she LOVES that game! (I promise I'll play with you seester!!!)
